Inventor, explorer, entrepreneur

For a third-grade science project — when everyone else was making rubber band catapults and soda bottle rockets — I built a fully functional, leafblower-powered hovercraft that could lift a full-grown adult.

In college I decided on a whim that I wanted to cycle across France. So I did, riding 500 miles solo from Switzerland to the Mediterranean while couchsurfing in strangers' homes and surviving on intermediate French for a month.

I've started six businesses over the years — some more successful than others — ranging from a peer-to-peer textbook exchange to a card game production company to a city-wide scavenger hunt built around the unlikely goal of gamifying parking data collection.

After college I freelanced for three years, offering what I generously called 'full stack' creative services (defined here as: whatever you'll pay me to do) for small businesses in the Denver area. Wearing that many hats taught me what I actually loved doing — designing memorable experiences, whether digital, physical, or some hybrid of both.

Designer by title. Builder by nature.

I've long struggled with the narrowness of the label 'designer.' For me, design has always been a medium for expressing ideas and a conversation starter for bringing them to life — not the destination itself. I've identified more as a builder for as long as I can remember, but that isn't an option in the LinkedIn dropdown.

So I've gravitated toward roles that sit close to the heart of the business problem, where the distinction between designing something and building it starts to blur. At Floma I helped define the product, designed the systems that made it work, and built large parts of it myself — including an AI campaign assembly pipeline that turns a brief into hundreds of production-ready assets in seconds. At Zoom I built their first design system, ran an experimentation program that generated $3.5M in additional eCommerce revenue, and eventually led the redesign that repositioned the platform for the AI era, all in ten weeks.

What excites me most about AI is what it makes possible for people with more ideas than hours — which has always been my problem. For the first time, I can bring products to life with my own two hands at a pace that actually matches the way my head works. It's not a tool I added to my process. It's closer to a creative unlock.

Outside of work

I love to explore new places both near and far — hiking, camping, skiing, and getting lost in 46 countries across 6 continents. When I'm not exploring, I'm usually creating: some contraption of my own invention in the woodshop, or my latest business, app, or game idea.

I have a well-trained but poorly-behaved Australian Shepherd named Aspen, and a poorly-trained but well-behaved calico cat named June.
